It’s Christmas in the Ukrainian village of Dikanka and the blacksmith Wakula is unhappily in love with Oksana, daughter of a landowner. She only wants to marry him on the condition that he gets her the Tsarina's golden shoes. In desperation, Wakula turns to the devil to fly him to the capital and help him procure the shoes. Will this be enough to win the hand of Oksana?

The story of friendship between a police operative Lesha and the ghost of the legendary swindler Pashka Veter. Lyosha is a young police operative who has been receiving small assignments from colleagues for the entire six months of his service – to catch a fly, heat a kettle, and copy the criminal code. Like all young professionals, Lyosha longs for serious work – and having convinced his boss that he is quite ready, he gets his first case. He will have to reveal the secret of the death of a young man, in whom Lyosha recognizes Pashka Veter, the legendary swindler who once "threw" Alexei for a million rubles. That same evening, Lyosha sees the ghost of Pashka: he does not care at all about his death - after all, he has already seen the Garden of Eden filled with three hundred virgins with one eye

This totally forgotten film is adapted from a story by Franz Nabl who also provided the basis for Der verzauberte Tag. The story is about a rich murderer (Siegfried Breuer) who killed his wife out of jealousy nd tries to start a new life.

Lady Macbeth, driven by ambition, urges her husband, Macbeth, to murder King Duncan. Macbeth becomes king but descends into madness. A Scottish nobleman, in a duel, ultimately kills Macbeth. The film, set 900 years later in Berlin, depicts this act with a blurred sequence.
